There was no surprise in San Fernando where 15th ranked Tomas L. (1-5) was outplayed by eighth ranked Espanol O. (4-2) 94-41 on Sunday. Espanol O. dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Tomas L.'s 26. They outrebounded Tomas L. 43-28 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Hector Gomez (188-1987) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Milenko Sepulveda (187-1988) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Espanol O. players scored in double figures. Tomas Lavin (-2000) produced 13 points and Joaquin Contreras (-2003) added 4 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Espanol O.. They moved-up to fourth place. Tomas L. lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with five games lost. Espanol O. will meet at home Municipal C. (#15) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Tomas L. will play against the league's second-placed Liceo PN in Temuco and hope to win that game.
