Very important is a road loss of second ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (19-13) against sixth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (17-15) on Tuesday night. Visiting Pioneros Los Mochis were defeated by Ostioneros de Guaymas in Guaymas 98-83. Ostioneros de Guaymas dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Pioneros Los Mochis' 48. The winners were led by American Dylan Smith (196-1997, college: Arizona) who scored that evening 34 points (!!!) and the other American import point guard Wes Washpun (185-1993, college: UNI) supported him with 18 points and 4 assists. Four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Even 27 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals by Swiss point guard Jordan Stevens (182-1994, college: Midwestern St.) did not help to save the game for Pioneros Los Mochis. American power forward Kwame Alexander (201-1990, college: CSUSB, agency: BIG) added 25 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ostioneros de Guaymas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Tijuana. Pioneros Los Mochis lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with 13 games lost. They share it with Hermosillo. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against higher ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
