The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Astros (21-11) in Mazatlan on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by seventh ranked Venados (10-22) 109-103. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Astros. Venados made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Decensae Xavier White (198-1988, college: SF State) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and forward Joshua Ramirez (198-1994, college: Dominican, CA) who added 20 points and 7 assists during the contest. Xavier White is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Venados players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Javion Blake (190, college: Washburn, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and Lagerald Vick (196-1997, college: Kansas) scored 28 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venados maintains seventh position with 10-22 record. Astros at the other side still keep top place with 11 games lost. Venados are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) on the road in the next round. Astros will play against Tijuana Zonkeys (#5) and are hoping to win this game.
