Regular Season Round 5: Sergio Ceppi - UDC 61-102

There was a small surprise in Santiago where leader UDC (1-0) outscored second-ranked Sergio Ceppi (6-1) 102-61 on Saturday. UDC forced 21 Sergio Ceppi turnovers and outrebounded them 46-34 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Sergio Ceppi's players. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Paula Carrasco (161-1994) who scored 38 points (!!!) and 7 assists. Forward Constanza Canas (-2003) chipped in 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four UDC players scored in double figures. Macarena Retamales (-2001) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Dominique Del Canto added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory UDC went down to sixth position due to points difference. Loser Sergio Ceppi keeps the second place with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
