Regular Season Round 14: Abejas - Libertadores 84-94

An interesting game for Libertadores (10-5) which played road game in Leon against 4th ranked Abejas (1-13). First ranked Libertadores managed to get a 10-point victory 94-84. Libertadores dominated down low during the game scoring 76 of its points in the paint compared to Abejas' 38. Libertadores forced 21 Abejas turnovers and outrebounded them 47-33 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated also this game. Power forward Lyndra Littles Weaver (185-1987, college: Virginia) notched 32 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and swingman Robyn Parks (185-1992, college: VCU) supported her with 25 points and 6 rebounds. Even 16 points and 7 assists by guard Jaterra Bonds (170-1992, college: Florida) did not help to save the game for Abejas. Guard Isabelle Spingola (183-1998, college: Marquette) added 23 points for the hosts. Four Abejas players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Libertadores maintains first position with 10-5 record. Abejas at the other side keep the fourth place with 13 games lost. Libertadores will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Abejas will play again against the league's leader Libertadores (#1) and hope to win that game.
