Regular Season Round 7: Yale - Juventud 89-37
Date: June 12, 2022
Very predictable result when seventh ranked Yale (4-3) rolled over bottom-ranked Juventud (0-7) in Montevideo 89-37 on Sunday. Yale dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Juventud's 26. Yale forced 42 Juventud turnovers and outrebounded them 43-31 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Juventud's players. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian guard Laila Raviolo (180-2000) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. Luciana Chagas (174-2002) accounted for 16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winning side. Guard Cynthia Diaz (158-1994) came up with 8 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals and the former international forward Karina Acosta (-1986) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Juventud in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Yale moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Remeros. Newly promoted Juventud still closes the standings with seven games lost. Yale's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Urunday.
