Very expected game when bottom-ranked Llolleo (0-7) was smashed by second ranked Gimnastico (6-1) in Vina del Mar 91-36 on Saturday. Gimnastico dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Llolleo's 22. Gimnastico forced 35 Llolleo turnovers and outrebounded them 64-43 including a 26-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for forward Jovanka Ljubetic (178-2000) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Macarena Saez (169-1995) accounted for 10 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Gimnastico players scored in double figures. Ingrid Carrasco (-1992) came up with 17 points and 7 rebounds and center Katalina Garcia (182-1994) added 8 points and 16 rebounds respectively for Llolleo in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gimnastico. They maintain second place with 6-1 record having fourteen points less than leader Conce, which they share with Ceb Puerto Montt. Llolleo lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Lar V.. Gimnastico will meet Estrella del Sur (#5) in the next round. Llolleo will play against New Crusaders and hopes to get finally their first victory.
