Date: June 18, 2022
Very predictable result when third ranked Sportiva Italiana (7-1) rolled over 14th ranked Brisas (1-8) in Santiago 100-47 on Saturday. Sportiva Italiana held Brisas to an opponent 24.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Sportiva Italiana forced 26 Brisas turnovers and outrebounded them 43-27 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sportiva Italiana looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Brisas' players. It was an exceptional evening for Gaspar Hernandez (-1999) who led the winners and scored 22 points. Guard Matias Lubiano (-1999) accounted for 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Four Sportiva Italiana players scored in double figures. Felipe Gutierrez (-1992) came up with 15 points and Venezuelan Cristhian Poleo (-1992) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Brisas in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Sportiva Italiana. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Liceo PN. Brisas lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth place with eight games lost. Sportiva Italiana will meet at home Boston College (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Brisas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Sergio Ceppi.
