Regular Season Round 11: Malvin - Urunday 96-28
Date: July 9, 2022
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Montevideo: Malvin (#5) and Urunday (#11). Malvin (8-3) crushed visiting Urunday (1-10) by 68 points 96-28. Malvin held Urunday to an opponent 21.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 65.6 percent accuracy of the winners. Malvin forced 26 Urunday turnovers and outrebounded them 41-19 including a 33-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 38 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Urunday's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Malvin made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was Colombian-Argentinian center Malvina DAgostino (184-2001) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Carolina Fernandez (186-2003) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Malvin players scored in double figures. Mariana Garcia (-2005) produced 11 points and point guard Camila Laesprella (158-1991) added 0 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Malvin moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Urunday lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with ten games lost. They share it with Juventud and Paysandu.
