Regular Season Round 5: Llaneros - Brillantes 53-65

Rather predictable result in Caracas where second ranked Brillantes (2-1) defeated 4th placed Llaneros (2-3) 65-53 on Thursday. Brillantes dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Llaneros' 30. The best player for the winners was forward Deivis Ananguren (192-1985) who scored 6 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Robert Yriarte (201-1989) chipped in 10 points. International point guard Arian Amundaray (192-2000) produced 14 points and forward Cristian Centeno (195-1996) added 11 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Brillantes maintains second place with 2-1 record having just one point less than leader Centauros, which they share with Gigantes and Heroes. Loser Llaneros dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Piratas. Brillantes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Llaneros will play against the league's leader Trotamundos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
