Regular Season Round 9: Brillantes - Centauros 84-96

The game between Top Four teams took place in Caracas. Second-best host Brillantes (3-3) lost to first ranked Centauros (5-3) 96-84. Centauros made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Brillantes turnovers. The best player for the winners was Dominican Kelvin Pena (193-1980, college: Southeastern) who scored 26 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. American Dominique Morrison (198-1989, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) chipped in 33 points (!!!). Four Centauros players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Ashford Golden (198-1995, college: MACU) who recorded 18 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Centauros maintains first place with 5-3 record. Loser Brillantes keep the second position with three games lost. Centauros will meet Llaneros (#4) in the next round. Brillantes will have a break next round.
