Regular Season Round 14: Espanol O. - Aleman 80-48

Very expected game when 11th ranked Aleman (5-9) was smashed on the road by third ranked Espanol O. (11-2) 80-48 on Sunday. Espanol O. made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Aleman turnovers. Point guard Hector Gomez (188-1987) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) to lead the effort and the former international guard Franco Morales (179-1992) supported him with 12 points and 6 assists. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by Venezuelan center Sergio Mijares (-1997) did not help to save the game for Aleman. Center Marko Castro (192-1988) added 7 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Espanol O. have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Aleman lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with nine games lost. Espanol O. will meet bottom-ranked Municipal C. (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Aleman will play against Tomas L. (#14) in San Fernando and hope to secure a win.
