The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Pinheiros as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Pinheiros defeated 5th ranked Sao Jose in Sao Paulo 68-61. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Pinheiros made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Sao Jose turnovers. Forward Jonas Buffat (191-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and power forward Daniel Lima (204-2003) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Leonardo Abreu (187-2002) responded with 6 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals and center Sergio Conceicao (208-2000) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds.
