Regular Season Round 4: Occidentales - Rivas 93-91

Occidentales has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Rivas (0-4) 93-91. They outrebounded Rivas 39-26 including 25 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by guard Deikel Sanchez who had that evening a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 15 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Roberto Nieves (194-1982, college: Valpo) supported him with 27 points and 6 assists. Even 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 17-of-22 shooting from the field) by American forward Telvin Gabriel (198-1994, college: Lander) did not help to save the game for Rivas. Cuban Yosniel Morales (196-1987) added 15 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Four Rivas players scored in double figures. Occidentales (1-3) left bottom position moving up to eighth place. It was Rivas' fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost.
