Very important is a road loss of second ranked Heroes (4-3) against fourth ranked Gaiteros (4-4) on Sunday night. Visiting Heroes were defeated by Gaiteros in Maracaibo 88-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Heroes. Gaiteros made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Elyjah Clark (190-1998, college: MSSU) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists. Senegalese center Serigne Barro (208-1995) accounted for 23 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. American point guard Keron DeShields (190-1992, college: Tennessee St., agency: BIG) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists and naturalized Colombian Luis Almanza (196-1991) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Heroes in the defeat. Four Heroes players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gaiteros moved-up to third place. Heroes at the other side keep the second position with three games lost. Gaiteros will again play against league's second-placed Heroes in Caracas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Heroes will have a break next round.
