Rather expected game in Maracay where 5th ranked Toros (1-7) were defeated by third ranked Piratas (5-6) 76-69 on Monday. Piratas shot 67.5 percent from the field. Piratas had a 27-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Piratas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.5 percentage. American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-1988, college: GWU) fired 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Willie Warren (193-1989, college: Oklahoma, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 15 points. Brian Guidi (191-1991) produced 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Daniel Macuare (190-1984) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Piratas maintains third position with 5-6 record behind leader Centauros. Loser Toros dropped to the fourth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Taurinos. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
