The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Cordon as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Cordon defeated 10th ranked Sayago in Montevideo 71-67. Cordon forced 24 Sayago turnovers. Argentinian forward Fabian Ramirez (200-1990) fired 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Argentinian center Eduardo Vasirani (206-1991) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. Five Cordon players scored in double figures.
