Regular Season Round 16: Centauros - Brillantes 69-75

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Centauros (7-4) in Margarita on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Brillantes (5-5) 75-69. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Centauros. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording 10 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Cesar Silva (190-1981) who added 18 points (perfect from the field making all six shots) during the contest. At the losing side Dominican Kelvin Pena (193-1980, college: Southeastern) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and Argentinian guard Juan Arengo (185-1996) scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. Four Centauros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brillantes maintains third position with 5-5 record behind leader Centauros. Centauros at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. Brillantes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Centauros will play again at home against Brillantes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
