An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Margarita. First ranked Centauros faced 3rd placed Brillantes. Host Centauros (8-4) defeated guests from Caracas (5-6) 80-65. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Brillantes. Dominican Kelvin Pena (193-1980, college: Southeastern) stepped up and scored 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Spanish-Dominican power forward Jhonatan Araujo (206-1996) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Centauros players scored in double figures. American power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import guard Hameed Ali (194-1993, college: TAMUCC) scored 8 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Centauros maintains first place with 8-4 record. Loser Brillantes keep the third position with six games lost. They share it with Piratas. Centauros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brillantes will play against Toros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
