Top ranked Cocodrilos (6-2) recorded its second loss in Porlamar on Thursday night. Visitors were edged by second ranked Guaiqueries (7-2) 66-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cocodrilos. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The best player for the winners was American forward Anthony Young (200-1989, college: KWC) who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. The former international power forward Francisco Centeno (203-1985) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-1994, college: Merrimack) produced 15 points and Dominican Luis Montero (203-1993, college: South Plains, agency: BIG) added 9 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guaiqueries have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 7-2 record having just one victory less than leader Centauros. Cocodrilos at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. Guaiqueries are looking forward to face league's leader Gladiadores in Caracas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
