Regular Season Round 19: Guaiqueries - Gladiadores 74-70

The most important game of round 19 was a defeat of league's leader Gladiadores (8-3). They were defeated by first ranked Guaiqueries (10-2) 74-70 on Sunday night. It was a great evening for the former international Gendry Correa (190-1996) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 4 assists. American guard Melvin Johnson (193-1993, college: VCU) helped adding 19 points. At the losing side the former international forward Michael Carrera (196-1993, college: S.Carolina, agency: BIG) responded with 13 points and 5 rebounds and international point guard Gregory Vargas (181-1986, agency: Pro Sports) scored 11 points. Four Gladiadores players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guaiqueries have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 10-2 record. Gladiadores at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Centauros. Gladiadores will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Guaiqueries will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Cangrejeros in Maturin.
