There was no surprise when 6th ranked Araraquara (1-3) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Paschoalotto/Bauru (3-1) 97-82 on Friday. Paschoalotto/Bauru made 26-of-27 free shots (96.3 percent) during the game. American point guard Dontrell Brite (175-1994, college: Mount Olive) stepped up and scored 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners and Argentinian point guard Jonatan Machuca (186-1989) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). Five Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. Paschoalotto/Bauru's coach Jorge Guerra used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Gustavo Scaglia (193-1993, college: Arizona W. CC) responded with 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) and the former international point guard Welington Santos (185-1981) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Paschoalotto/Bauru moved-up to third place, which they share with Pinheiros. Araraquara lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Paschoalotto/Bauru will meet at home Osasco (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Araraquara will have a break next round.
