Regular Season Round 22: Brillantes - Gaiteros 74-65

Rather predictable result when second ranked Brillantes (9-7) won against 5th ranked Gaiteros (5-11) in Caracas 74-65 on Monday. Brillantes had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) notched 18 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international power forward Fernando Fuenmayor (201-2000) supported him with 10 points and 7 rebounds. Even 24 points and 5 rebounds by American guard Elyjah Clark (190-1998, college: MSSU) did not help to save the game for Gaiteros. Senegalese forward Mouhamed Barro (204-1995) added 12 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Brillantes maintains second position with 9-7 record having just four point less than leader Centauros. Gaiteros lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Llaneros. Brillantes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Heroes.
