Regular Season Round 22: Heroes - Guaros 92-78
Date: August 15, 2022
The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Heroes' (7-6) home victory over one of their biggest challengers Guaros (6-9) in Caracas 92-78 on Monday. Heroes forced 19 Guaros turnovers. Bahamas center Dwight Coleby (206-1994, college: WKU, agency: Interperformances) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American point guard Keron DeShields (190-1992, college: Tennessee St., agency: BIG) supported him with 20 points and 5 assists. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by the former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-1982, agency: Pro Sports) did not help to save the game for Guaros. Puerto Rican Alexander Abreu (179-1991, college: UWG) added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Four Heroes and five Guaros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Heroes maintains third position with 7-6 record having just one point less than leader Centauros. Guaros at the other side keep the fourth place with nine games lost. Heroes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Caracas Brillantes.
