The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Toros' (2-11) road loss to fourth ranked Llaneros (5-11) in Caracas 60-98 on Monday. Llaneros dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 32. They outrebounded Toros 43-24 including a 36-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Llaneros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Brazilian center Andre Coimbra (205-1986, college: CMU) notched 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and American point guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) supported him with 20 points. Even 16 points by point guard Edson Tovar (180-2005) did not help to save the game for Toros. Forward Javier Vargas (197-1998) added 4 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Llaneros maintains fourth position with 5-11 record, which they share with Gaiteros. Toros lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
