Regular Season Round 23: Heroes - Brillantes 75-81
Date: August 16, 2022
The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Caracas: Brillantes (#2) and Heroes (#3). Heroes were defeated at home 75-81 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Heroes. It was a great evening for American-Dominican forward Antonio Pena (204-1986, college: Villanova) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. American power forward Charles Thomas (202-1986, college: Arkansas) helped adding 16 points and 5 rebounds. Naturalized Colombian Luis Almanza (196-1991) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Keron DeShields (190-1992, college: Tennessee St., agency: BIG) scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brillantes maintains second place with 9-7 record having just four point less than leader Centauros. Heroes at the other side keep the third position with six games lost. Brillantes are looking forward to face Guaros (#4) in Barquisimeto in the next round. Heroes will have a break next round.
