Regular Season Round 25: Marinos - Gladiadores 72-57

The game between third ranked Gladiadores (10-4) and fifth ranked Marinos (3-9) was the most important one in the last round on Friday night. Gladiadores were defeated by Marinos in Puerto La Cruz 72-57. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gladiadores. Greek swingman Kostas Vasileiadis (200-1984) fired 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Nigerian-American guard George A Williams II (198-1990, college: WBU) chipped in 20 points. Williams II is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Puerto Rican Devon Collier (203-1991, college: Oregon St.) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Argentinian guard Nicolas Romano (200-1987) added 6 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marinos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Taurinos. Gladiadores at the other side dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Gigantes. Marinos is again looking forward to face higher ranked Gladiadores (#3) in Caracas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gladiadores will have a break next round.
