An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Caracas. First ranked Cocodrilos faced their biggest opponent Gigantes. Host Cocodrilos (11-3) smashed guests from Puerto Ordaz (10-4) 91-69. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gigantes. It was a key game for the top position in the league. They outrebounded Gigantes 42-22 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cocodrilos shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Dominican guard Gelvis Solano (185-1994, college: Merrimack) stepped up and scored 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Dominican Luis Montero (203-1993, college: South Plains, agency: BIG) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Four Cocodrilos players scored in double figures. At the losing side American center Jarred Shaw (208-1990, college: Utah St.) responded with 6 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) scored 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Cocodrilos. They maintain first place with 11-3 record. Loser Gigantes keep the second position with four games lost. They share it with Gladiadores. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
