No shocking result in a game in Margarita where first ranked Centauros (12-4) defeated 4th placed Llaneros (6-12) 78-64 on Saturday. Centauros had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Dominican Kelvin Pena (193-1980, college: Southeastern) stepped up and scored 17 points and 4 assists for the winners and Spanish-Dominican power forward Jhonatan Araujo (206-1996) chipped in 9 points and 15 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and forward Cristian Centeno (195-1996) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Centauros. They maintain first place with 12-4 record. Loser Llaneros keep the fourth position with 12 games lost. Centauros will meet at home Toros (#5) in the next round. Llaneros will have a break next round.
