Regular Season Round 9: Sao Paulo - Brasilia 120-53

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Sao Paulo (5-2) smashed at home bottom-ranked Brasilia (0-7) 120-53 on Tuesday. Sao Paulo dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Brasilia's 30. Sao Paulo forced 21 Brasilia turnovers and outrebounded them 62-28 including a 42-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Brasilia's players. Point guard Pedro Rodrigues (175-2000) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Luiz Mendonca (188-2000) chipped in 30 points and 8 assists. Five Sao Paulo players scored in double figures. Sao Paulo's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was forward Carlos Silva (196-2003) with 23 points and 7 rebounds and Tiago Brasil scored 10 points. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Sao Paulo. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Flamengo. Brasilia lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Sao Paulo will meet league's second-placed Praia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brasilia will play against Pato (#9) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
