Rather expected game when 5th ranked Gaiteros (5-14) lost to third ranked Heroes (8-8) in Caracas 83-94 on Wednesday. Heroes made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The winners were led by swingman Kevin Nino (195-1991) who scored that evening 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Keron DeShields (190-1992, college: Tennessee St., agency: BIG) supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 25 points by Spanish guard Luis Parejo (194-1989) did not help to save the game for Gaiteros. Yanitson Quintero (201-1998) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. Five Heroes and four Gaiteros players scored in double figures. Gaiteros' coach David Diaz tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Heroes maintains third position with 8-8 record having three points less than leader Centauros. Gaiteros lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 14 games lost. Heroes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Broncos.
