Regular Season Round 7: Abejas - Dorados 89-94

Very expected game when 6th ranked Abejas (6-6) lost to first ranked Dorados (8-3) in Guanajuato 89-94 on Wednesday. Dorados made 30-of-33 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Argentinian forward Franco Giorgetti (203-1992) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 10 rebounds. American Donald Sims (190-1987, college: App State, agency: Pensack Sports) accounted for 20 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Dorados' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Michael Smith (193-1995, college: CBU) came up with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Wayne Langston (200-1993, college: Murray St.) added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Abejas in the defeat. Five Dorados and four Abejas players scored in double figures. Dorados maintains first place with 8-3 record. Loser Abejas dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. Dorados will meet at home Plateros (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Abejas will play against Fuerza Regia in Monterrey and hope to secure a win.
