Second Stage Round 4: Sayago - San Telmo RS 83-73
Date: August 26, 2022
Bottom-ranked San Telmo RS (0-3) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-73 loss to ninth ranked Sayago (3-1) in Sayago on Friday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Paul Harrison (203-1989, college: NGU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import Dante Bailey (201-1994, college: Langston) who added 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Sayago players scored in double figures. Sayago's coach Nicolas Diaz used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Gonzalo Meira (199-1988, agency: Pro Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Matias Nicoletti (193-1994) scored 14 points and 7 steals. Sayago have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Cordon. Loser San Telmo RS still closes the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Larranaga. Sayago will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. San Telmo RS's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Montevideo Lagomar.
