Rather predictable result in Maturin where third ranked Gigantes (12-5) defeated 5th ranked Cangrejeros (3-15) 96-91 on Friday. The best player for the winners was American Trey Gilder (206-1985, college: NSU) who scored 19 points. The former international power forward Luis Valera (202-1988, college: UTRGV) chipped in 18 points. American forward Eric Frederick (203-1989, college: TxWes) produced 19 points and 6 rebounds and Argentinian forward Nicholas Wadell (201-1989) added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Gigantes moved-up to second place, which they share with Guaiqueries. Cangrejeros lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 15 games lost. Gigantes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
