Regular Season Round 8: Sao Jose - Corinthians 91-87
Date: August 27, 2022
The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Corinthians' (2-5) road loss to seventh ranked Sao Jose (4-4) 87-91 on Saturday. The winners were led by power forward Renato Carbonari (202-1987) who scored that evening 18 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and naturalized Greek Dimitris Sousa (193-1994, college: UVA Wise) supported him with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Sao Jose's coach Sebastian Luis Figueredo used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 14 points and 8 assists by point guard Gabriel Campos (182-2001) did not help to save the game for Corinthians. Felipe Queiros (201-1998) added 14 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sao Jose moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rio Claro. Loser Corinthians keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Sao Jose will meet higher ranked Vivo/Franca (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Corinthians' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Sao Paulo to the arena Pinheiros.
