Regular Season Round 30: Toros - Trotamundos 73-74

Fifth-ranked Toros (2-17) made lots of trouble for first ranked Trotamundos (15-3) in Maracay on Sunday. The visitors from La Asuncion managed to secure only one-point victory 74-73. However their fans expected much easier game. 24 personal fouls committed by Toros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Al Thornton (203-1983, college: FSU, agency: BIG) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Lenin Lopez (198-1991) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four Trotamundos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Jamaican-American forward Staphon Blair (206-1993, college: UCF, agency: Elevate Sports Alliance) who recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Edson Tovar (180-2005) added 19 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains first position with 15-3 record. Toros lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
