An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in La Guaira. Third ranked Piratas faced one of their biggest challengers Heroes. Host Piratas (10-10) defeated guests from Caracas (8-10) 104-93. Piratas outrebounded Heroes 47-34 including 32 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. Piratas players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. It was a good game for American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-1988, college: GWU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds. Bosnian forward Milan Milosevic (204-1985, agency: Interperformances) contributed with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Piratas' coach Jesus Cordovez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Keron DeShields (190-1992, college: Tennessee St., agency: BIG) replied with 24 points and 8 assists and his fellow American import forward Marcus Gilbert (198-1993, college: Fairfield) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Heroes. Five Heroes players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Piratas maintains third position with 10-10 record having just one point less than leader Centauros. Heroes at the other side keep the fourth place with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
