No shocking result in a game when third ranked Corinthians (7-2) beat on the road 6th ranked Vasco da Gama (4-5) 72-67 on Sunday. They outrebounded Vasco da Gama 53-40 including 38 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by point guard Gabriel Landeira (190-2004) who scored that evening 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Alexandre Ludwig supported him with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Four Corinthians players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds by point guard Matheusinho Brito (184-2000) did not help to save the game for Vasco da Gama. Caua Queiroz (-2003) added 9 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Vasco da Gama's coach Daniel Bello rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Corinthians have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Cerrado. Vasco da Gama lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Coritiba and Franca. Corinthians will meet Caxias do Sul (#6) on the road in the next round. Vasco da Gama will play against Cearense and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
