Very important is a home loss of third ranked Fuerza Regia (8-5) against eighth ranked Abejas (7-7) on Friday night. Host Fuerza Regia was defeated by Abejas in Monterrey 101-87. They made 24-of-27 charity shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Abejas players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tre McLean (197-1993, college: Chattanooga) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 assists and American-Argentinian guard Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) who added 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Abejas' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentinian Joseph Avila responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Rodney Green (197-1988, college: La Salle) scored 21 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Abejas moved-up to sixth place. Fuerza Regia at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Abejas will play against higher ranked Mineros (#4) in Zacatecas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Fuerza Regia will play on the road against Plateros in Fresnillo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
