No shocking result in a game when second ranked Astros (9-4) crushed 7th ranked Libertadores (6-7) in Guadalajara 113-89 on Friday. Astros dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Libertadores' 40. They outrebounded Libertadores 36-25 including 24 on the defensive glass. Astros shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Libertadores' players. The winners were led by Dominican Rigoberto Mendoza (190-1992) who scored that evening 18 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American swingman Aaron Valdes (196-1993, college: Hawaii) supported him with 23 points. Even 23 points and 4 assists by American guard Spencer Williams (188-1995, college: Wooster) did not help to save the game for Libertadores. Jamaican power forward Samardo Samuels (206-1989, college: Louisville) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Libertadores' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Astros have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They used an opportunity after Dorados lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Libertadores lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Soles. Astros will meet Halcones UV Xalapa (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Libertadores will play against Correcaminos and hope to secure a win.
