Regular Season Round 8: Fuerza Regia - Abejas 88-77

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Abejas (7-7) lost to third ranked Fuerza Regia (8-5) in Monterrey 77-88 on Saturday. The winners were led by American guard Daniel Bejarano (193-1991, college: Colorado St.) who scored that evening 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Dominique Johnson (192-1987, college: Azusa Pacific) supported him with 18 points. Even 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists by American forward Wayne Langston (200-1993, college: Murray St.) did not help to save the game for Abejas. American-Argentinian guard Erik Thomas (195-1995, college: New Orleans) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Four Fuerza Regia and five Abejas players scored in double figures. Abejas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fuerza Regia maintains third position with 8-5 record behind leader Dorados. Abejas lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth place with seven games lost. Fuerza Regia will meet Plateros (#5) in the next round. Abejas will play against Mineros in Zacatecas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
