Regular Season Round 11: Corinthians - Sao Paulo 107-103

Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Sao Paulo: Corinthians (#8) and Sao Paulo (#2). Despite it looked like an easy game for Corinthians, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. Guest Sao Paulo challenged much higher ranked Corinthians giving them a very tough game, but finally losing it by four points 107-103. Corinthians made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Maozinha Pereira (200-2000) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Isaac Goncalves (196-1990) accounted for 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. American guard Malcolm Miller (201-1991, college: Southern) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import power forward Tyrone Curnell (203-1988, college: Valdosta St.) added 25 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Sao Paulo in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Corinthians (4-6) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Rio Claro. Sao Paulo at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams.
