Very expected game when 10th ranked Occidentales (2-13) lost to fifth ranked Leones MGA (8-7) in Chinandega 65-78 on Friday. Leones MGA outrebounded Occidentales 43-27 including 29 on the offensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for Puerto Rican point guard Luis Gonzalez (183-1997, college: PR-Bayamon) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. American forward Josmel Martinez (198, college: Broward CC) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Leones MGA's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Deikel Sanchez came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 blocks (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Puerto Rican guard Roberto Nieves (194-1982, college: Valpo) added 14 points respectively for Occidentales in the defeat.
