Rather expected game in Las Piedras where 3rd placed Juventud (2-3) was defeated by leader Yale (5-0) 70-52 on Saturday. Yale forced 22 Juventud turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Mariangel Santana (160-2003) who scored 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Sofia Podesta (161-2003) chipped in 21 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Forward Karina Acosta (-1986) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and guard Cynthia Diaz (158-1994) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Yale have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Aguada. Newly promoted Juventud keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Paysandu. Yale's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Montevideo to the arena Urunday.
