Regular Season Round 4: Danzantes - Cayenas 50-79

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Danzantes (0-3) were crushed at home by top-ranked Cayenas (5-0) 79-50 on Thursday. Cayenas shot 27 for 45 from the free-throw line, while Danzantes only scored nine points from the stripe. Cayenas forced 22 Danzantes turnovers and outrebounded them 60-39 including a 47-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Ivaney Marquez (181-1983, college: Grayson County) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and the former international Yosimar Corrales (184-1990) who added 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Geralis Flores (178-1998) responded with 7 points and 6 rebounds and Angely Rojas scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cayenas have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted Cayenas maintains first position with 5-0 record. Danzantes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with three games lost. Cayenas will meet at home Caribenas (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Danzantes will play against the league's second-placed Capitalinas and hope to get finally their first victory.
