There was a small surprise when Titanes crushed Tigrillos in Barranquilla 97-52 on Saturday. Titanes dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Tigrillos' 24. Titanes forced 21 Tigrillos turnovers and had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Titanes made 7 blocks. The former international Tonny Trocha-Morelos (208-1994, college: Texas A&M) nailed 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and Argentinian guard Selem Safar (191-1987) accounted for 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Titanes players scored in double figures. Point guard Juan Salcedo (176-2003) came up with 15 points and 6 rebounds and center Samuel Villa (190-2004) added 8 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Tigrillos in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
