Regular Season Round 5: Danzantes - Capitalinas 54-77

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Capitalinas (3-1) crushed on the road bottom-ranked Danzantes (0-4) 77-54 on Monday. Capitalinas dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Danzantes' 30. Capitalinas forced 21 Danzantes turnovers and outrebounded them 53-37 including a 38-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Capitalinas looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Danzantes' players. The former international center Yolimar Martinez (184-1995) nailed 8 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and forward Yulianny Perez (175-2001) accounted for 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Yanetsy Zamaro (178-1998) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and Dubreily Rodriguez added 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Danzantes in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Capitalinas. Newly promoted Capitalinas maintains second place with 3-1 record behind leader Cayenas. Danzantes lost their fourth game in a row. Danzantes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with four games lost. Capitalinas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Danzantes will play again against the league's second-placed Capitalinas (#2) and hope to get finally their first victory.
