Regular Season Round 6: Capitalinas - Danzantes 79-40

Bottom-ranked Danzantes (0-4) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to second ranked Capitalinas (3-1) 79-40 on Tuesday evening. Capitalinas held Danzantes to an opponent 17.9 percent shooting from the field compared to 39.6 percent accuracy of the winners and had 30 for 41 from the free-throw line, while Danzantes only scored fourteen points from the stripe. They outrebounded Danzantes 53-29 including a 41-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Cynthia Polanco (180-1985) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds. The former international center Yolimar Martinez (184-1995) chipped in 9 points and 16 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Aniuskar Cartaya who recorded 4 points and 9 rebounds and Angely Rojas added 8 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitalinas have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Capitalinas maintains second position with 3-1 record behind leader Cayenas. Danzantes at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with four games lost. Capitalinas will meet league's leader Cayenas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Danzantes will play against Bucaneras (#4) and hope to get finally their first victory.
