Second Stage Round 7: 25 de Agosto - Malvin 64-73

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Montevideo: Malvin (#3) and 25 de Agosto (#6). 25 de Agosto was defeated at home 64-73 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Malvin made 23-of-30 charity shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by 25 de Agosto's players. It was a great evening for Argentinian forward Carla Miculka (174-1993) who led her team to a victory scoring 27 points and 7 rebounds. Argentinian Maria Jourdheuil (180-1994) helped adding 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. Malvin's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Argentinian guard Rocio Bereilh (165-2001) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (made all of her sixteen free throws !!!) and Sabrina Molina (179-1998) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Malvin maintains third place with 4-3 record having just three points less than leader Yale. 25 de Agosto lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. They share it with Remeros and Montevideo. Malvin will play against league's leader Aguada at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. 25 de Agosto will play against Remeros (#5) in Mercedes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
