There was no surprise in Asuncion where 6th ranked Felix Perez (1-8) was crushed by top-ranked San Jose (9-0) 87-56 on Thursday. San Jose outrebounded Felix Perez 46-35 including a 43-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Fernando Dose (200-1994) scored 20 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and the former international forward Ramon Sanchez (194-1991) chipped in 12 points during the contest. Four San Jose players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Diego Lesme (203-1995) with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Juan Amarilla scored 7 points and 6 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest.
